The Greater Williamsburg Chamber of Commerce Proudly Announce Vocalist Liz Montgomery as 2024 Christmas Parade Grand Marshal

Williamsburg, VA- The Greater Williamsburg Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce vocalist Liz Montgomery as the Grand Marshal for the 2024 Believe Christmas Parade, sponsored by Dominion Energy.

Montgomery, a distinguished vocalist with over 60 years of professional experience, has captivated audiences across the nation and beyond. Throughout her illustrious career, she has performed alongside legendary artists such as Bill Doggett, Les McCann, Eddie Green, Johnny Lytle, Everett Collins, and Mike Jones. Her incredible talent has graced venues ranging from the renowned Apollo Theater in New York City to Michigan, Ohio, and even aboard Caribbean cruise liners.

Locally, Montgomery and her trio have become a cornerstone of Williamsburg's cultural landscape. She has performed with the Williamsburg Symphony Orchestra, headlined events such as First Night Williamsburg and the Summer Breeze Concert Series, and created custom musical programs for schools, libraries, and senior living communities. Liz’s contributions to Black History Month programs and church ministries further highlight her dedication to education and cultural enrichment.

Beyond her musical achievements, Montgomery’s community impact is extensive. She has served as President of the BHS PTA/PTO, a member of the York County Budget Committee, Chair of the Head Start Parent Policy Council, President, Treasurer, and Vice President of Le Cercle Charmant, Inc., and as Past President of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women of Williamsburg and Vicinity. She also served on the Housing Partnerships of Williamsburg Committee.

A three-time cancer survivor, Montgomery currently serves on the Williamsburg Relay for Life Committee and is a proud advocate for the NAACP, where she holds the position of First Vice President and is actively involved in the ACT-SO Scholarship Committee.

Her commitment to the Historic First Baptist Church is her number one focus. Montgomery has served as a teacher, choir member, and was the first woman elected Chair of the Trustee Board in the church’s history since its founding in 1776. She also developed and taught a curriculum for the church’s History Ministry, where she remains an active leader.

Montgomery and her husband, Al, have been blessed with three daughters, six grandchildren, and one great-grandson.
